eagle heights academy

Eagle Heights Academy is an on-site specialized therapeutic day treatment for students unable to be successful in a "traditional" school setting.  Eagle Heights is designed to meet the mental health needs of adolescents that have severe emotional and behavioral difficulties at home, school, and in the community.  These young people often struggle with verbal and physical aggresiveness, poor school attendance and perfomance, truancy, poor coping and social skills, depression, suicidal ideation, low self esteem and troubles maintaining peer and adult relationships.

Eagle Heights Academy acheives success through family, individual, and group treatment.  The program focuses on anger management, life skills development, academic assistance and tutoring, social skills development and crisis intervention/coping skills development.  This is accomplished through life space interviews and a safe environment.

At Eagle Heights the staff and directors foster therapeutic and academic excellene through:

Eagle Heights Academy GED Expansion Program

Following completion of treatment Eagle Heights Academy (EHA) strives to reintegrate the majority of youth back to a traditional school setting.  However, we know that this is not a viable option for some of our older youth.  EHA now offers additional programming for males ages 16-18 that are unable to return to a traditional school setting.  Students may graduate from EHA or gain assistance in preparing for passage of the GED.  There are two tracks in this expansion.  Youth are characterized as having already earned high school credits who with support can complete credit recovery programming and finish their high school graduation requirements or youth that have few to no high school credits that would prepare for completion of the GED exam.

Services Offered for Eagle Heights Acaedemy GED EXPANSION PROGRAM:

  • High School gradutiaon track or GED track:  academic support, guidance and planning
  • Tutoring:  plans developed to advance youth to a functional literacy and academic level
  • Psychological testing; as identified to assist in planning
  • Traditional mental health groups:  anger management, social skills training, etc.
  • Strengths based assessment:  identify and capitalize on youths strengths and competencies
  • Work Readiness and Life Skills groups:  Assess and explore career opportunities and develop work readiness plans
